Slave Zero Reviews

Hardcore Times

http://www.hardcore-times.com

Slave Zero obviously knew my dislike for metal! so emailed me first to see if they could send up their CD for review. I checked out their myspace songs and my answer was an absolute YES! While I dislike metal I like it when its thrashy and mixed with some metalcore/hardcore both of which SZ do, and do
very well.

On the metal side I don't really know who to compare them to, its heavy, its not too fast (most of the time), and its thrashy. Theres 3 vocal styles going on, Graeme doing the main duties, which range between a thrashy metal style and a touch of hardcore (the euro style) here and there, he's backed up by Eddie doing the same sorta style, and lastly Andy (who is listed as Bass/Guttural Vocals, which is a great idea cause i often wonder who does what style when i review a CD), and its Andy's vocals that give it the more metal sound.

Music wise they are very tight, some of the riffs may get a bit too metal for me, but i'm a picky git! Its when they're playing their thrashy metal style, mixed with the metalcore/hardcore style of say Born fromPain (who I think SZ are very similar to on certain parts of alot of the songs, and thats a big compliment btw, well i think anyway!). If you don't know Born from Pain, think maybe Hatebreed, and if you don't know them then you're a lost cause and you'r on the wrong site!

Slave Zero mix up some great and different sounds and influences and while I prefer the metalcore/hardcore bits overall I really like the CD and is one I'll return to. For fans of metal and the euro metalcore/hardcore sound.

Self released too, good job lads!

Check out their site, they've a release night coming up and a load of dates around Ireland.
