Slave Zero. 5 piece. From Ireland. Professional looking artwork and CD. Good choices of shirts on the band photo (including Obituary and Brutal Truth). All bodes well for a quality 5 track recording here.
Vocally very hardcore/metalcore with a major Hatebreed and Earth Crisis comparison being available, and musically fitting more into that genre than I expected. There are a few heavier and more straight up metal moments, and other names I could drop into the blatant influence bin would include Superjoint Ritual, Lamb of God (and the other Nola bands), Obituary in the slower parts, and Slayer (but not as manic in pace).
SZ throw some decent riffs and vocals around but lack a real energy to bring them fully to life, seemingly mostly down to the drums. If the drummer man upped his speed a bit and maybe put in a few more blasts and odd ideas, then the 'Zero could become the UK's answer to bands like Soilent Green, as the varied vocals, scuzzed up metallic thrashings are in such a ballpark.
Good CD though.
