Yes, Orgies in Death Metal are also celebrated in Ireland, as demonstrated by Slave Zero in their third self-produced recording, "The Pain Remits". Death Metal is a huge genre with many different angles and it is more than welcoming that Slave Zero stay far away from its overpopulated corners. The Irish sound neither Swedish nor American, have no Göteborg-trappings, no Morbid Angel 'thunder' and have no Six Feet Under styled groove.

Although Slave Zero are doing their own thing, their indulgence in the old school (of death metal) can be heard constantly: The singer sounds like he arose from the Righteous Pigs, smatterings of Obituary, Incubator or Divine Eve can be heard every so often, and sometimes they revel in dirty breakdown parts akin to Autopsy. The music is modern in spite of this, simply because Slave Zero have cooked up their own independent (self-contained) soup from this mix.

Aside from ocassional blast beats, the red end of the speedometer range is hardly even tested, but this is a good thing as the Irish value details and can (in this way) more easily satisify their fondness for complex song structures.

Yes, one can observe the underground status of the production, but it must be said that any closer harmonisation with modern standards would have destroyed the feeling of the songs - and the sound is definitely not bad at all! To reach the big time the songs need to be a little more finetuned, but the path they have adopted is definitely the best one. "The Pain Remits" is definitely a Death Metal recording (if you're into labels), definitely well placed to scare away commercialised (assembly line) productions and free loaders. This is a very welcome diversion for Underground Gourmets who like their music heavy.
