"The Pain Remits" is the third independent release from Irish Death metalers, SLAVE ZERO. I expected a more hardcore sound but was pleasantly surprised to hear brutal Death from that side of the pond. Most Irish bands I've heard are boring metalcore, but this is some good brutal shiiiaaatt!!!. Musically, it's heavy ass with good moshing melody and rhythm. Vocally, a brutal cross between Jamey Jasta and Phil Anselmo.

I like a cd's first song to reach out and grab me by the neck and pound my face into the dashboard and the title track does that nicely. Opening with an earsplitting deathscream, it's some heavy, stomping, headbanging brutality. With Phil-like screams and Jasta brutality, this ain't no boring metalcore. "I Fear For You" is another screaming and growling, pounding headbanger. Freakin' baaahhhrruuutal!!!!!! "Soul Of Ruin" echos more of an American Death sound with some good seering leads and drum kicking. Graeme Flynn's vox will surely keep your ears bleeding throughout. "Relief" continues the heavy, pounding brutality while "Faceless" picks up the speed and has the more Jasta-like vocals, although the melody remains good Death with a Heavy Metal breakdown and good leads in the middle.

Good shit. I hope to be hearing alot more from SLAVE ZERO. Ya hear something new everyday and brutal Death from Ireland is certainly a new and wonderful thing for me. F**k Yeah!
